Dean Castle Stonework Tours 19/04/2019 - 20/03/2020
Dean Castle Country Park
Book a tour of the restoration project at Dean Castle. Find out about how the Castle’s stonework is being repaired and access areas that have been closed for some time. Meet the Visitor Centre in the Country Park to hear about the history of the Castle and its inhabitants. Then join CBC Stone’s Project Manager for a tour of the restorations, including the battlements, Laigh Tower and Great Hall.

Since the Castle is a live building site, there are some stipulations and health and safety rules which must be followed and these are explained at the start of every tour. The tour also involves climbing around 80 steps in quite confined spaces and therefore if you are claustrophobic or have health concerns this may not be the ideal tour for you. But if you are fit and over 18 years of age it is well worth coming along. If you would be interested in taking the tour, which is free, the next one will take place on 19th April and then 4 weekly thereafter. Tours are from 11.30am-1pm, please show tickets at the visitor centre.

Numbers for tours are limited to a maximum of 10 adults. If you book tickets but are no longer able to attend the tour, please contact 01563 554300 as there may be a waiting list for places.

Charlie Landsborough – The Farewell Tour
Thursday 10 October

In 2019, UK Country Music legend Charlie Landsborough plans to retire from touring to concentrate on writing and recording music. Before his retirement Charlie will be embarking on an extended tour of Britain.

Known as the UK’s premier country music singer, country music is only one part of his live shows. Charlie’s gigs are a night of beautiful ballads, folk, blues, country, rock ‘n’ roll, pop, gospel and anthems.

Winner of ‘Best Songwriter’, ‘Best Song’, ‘Best Male Vocalist’ and ‘International Country Album,’ Charlie’s talent and chart-topping records received the ultimate recognition in 2011 when he was inducted into the British Country Music Hall of Fame.

Charlie said: “Now I thought that you, who have been so good to me, should be the first to know that I intend to hang up my guitar and retire next year. Hence, this next tour in spring will be my last.”
“I will certainly miss you all but will never forget your great kindness and support and will always treasure the wonderful memories I have of the lovely times I have had with you.”

How many white men does it take to change a light bulb ?

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Tony and Olivier Award for Best Play and hailed as “shockingly entertaining” and “appallingly funny”, this a razor-sharp satire about the politics of race.
In 1959, Bev and Russ are moving after the tragic death of their son. Inadvertently, they have sold their house to the neighbourhood’s first black family. Fifty years later, in 2009, the roles are reversed when a young white couple buys the same house in what is now a predominantly black neighbourhood. In both instances, racial tensions escalate and the stakes are raised.

Rapture Theatre, after its critically acclaimed productions of The Red Lion and A Streetcar Named Desire, makes a welcome return to Kilmarnock with another classic of American theatre.

Don’t miss what is guaranteed to be one of the theatrical talking points of the year!

Palace Theatre

GIZGIG are proud to present THE MARTIN DANIELS COMEDY SHOW starring Comedian and Magician MARTIN DANIELS. Martin is a spectacular stage and screen performer, captivating audiences with his uproarious sense of humour, charming personality and consummate magical skill.

The son of legendary TV magician Paul Daniels, Martin harboured ambitions to become a performer from a young age. At the age of 17, he took the plunge on a career in show business, making his debut in a summer season in Newquay. He didn’t have to wait long to be thrust into the limelight as Game for a Laugh, one of Britain’s biggest TV programmes of the 1980s chose Martin as one of the presenters in the final two series of the practical joke show hosted by Jeremy Beadle. Still in his early twenties, Martin was catapulted to stardom in a show that received over 17 million viewers every week.
Martin’s unique blend of magic and comedy has proven incredibly popular with audiences across the UK and we are extremely proud to be working with him.

Martin’s TV career continued in earnest and he went on to host ITV game show, Lingo and became a presenter on CITV. Next came five series on the BBC’s BAFTA nominated Les Dennis’ Laughter Show interspersed with appearances on various TV shows both in the UK and abroad.
The stage has always been a second home to Martin and he has toured with performers of the calibre of Jane McDonald, Lenny Henry, Les Dennis and MC Hammer, as well as making five appearances on The Royal Variety Performance. One of his biggest appearances to date was taking part in the VE Day Concert in Hyde Park attended by the Queen, Prince Philip, Princess Anne and Princess Margaret, plus an audience of 150,000 others!
Martin is also a published author, having penned a book entitled Cunning Stunts – The 50 Best Pub Tricks and Brain Teasers. In recent times, he demonstrated his magical ability in a special guest appearance with his Father Paul Danie

Threads of Life 21/11/2019 - 21/11/2019

For the past thirty years, I have been involved with textiles as a community artist, exhibition curator and banner maker. In 1986, I set up ‘Needleworks’ in Glasgow working with people of all ages and cultures, using sewing to celebrate local history, document community experiences and share personal concerns through the creation of wall hangings and banners.

I undertake textile commissions and organise sewing projects throughout Scotland. The most recent project has been Community Matters where ten people stitched small wall hangings to capture the stories of textiles that were precious to them. On my website you can read about the project and explore some of the themes of my book ‘Threads of Life’. I hope you enjoy the discovery

Neil Oliver: The Story of the British Isles in 100 places 29/11/2019 - 29/11/2019
Grand Hall
‘The Story of Britain in a Hundred Places’

‘I love Britain. I used to take the place for granted. Over the years I’ve learned how big a mistake that was. More recently I’ve wondered how many of us realise what a special place this is, how lucky we are. I’ve been round and round the edge, all over the interior. I’ve seen it all from land, sea and sky. Sometimes I think I’ve seen more of Britain than anyone else. A land shaped by ice, weather and us. A million years of human lives. Now I have my favourite places and together they have a story to tell – my own, unique story of Britain.’
Neil qualified as an archaeologist in 1988 and has also trained and worked as a journalist on publications such as The Scotsman, The Herald, The Guardian, The Edinburgh Evening News and The Daily Record, providing invaluable experience for when, in 2002 his career as a television broadcaster began. BBC 2’s Two Men in a Trench saw Neil and his friend Tony Pollard visit historic British battlefields and recreate the battle situation using state-of-the-art technology. Following this, in 2005 Neil joined the team on the highly acclaimed BBC2 series Coast and in 2006 he stepped into the role of lead presenter. This has shaped his career to date and Neil’s TV credits have been steadily building, and he continues to present both Coast Australia and Coast New Zealand. Neil lives in Scotland with his wife and three children.

The masterful, outrageous and hysterically funny comedy legend ‘General’ Jim Davidson OBE’ embarks on his comedy campaign around the UK in 2020, following the acclaimed sell-out ‘The People Fight Back’ Tour.
Who will he upset this time? Which battles will he win, which will he lose? One thing’s for certain, Jim never retreats!

He has entertained soldiers across the world and yet, as a comic, he still takes no prisoners at home."★★★★★
Absolutely a fantastic night! Tears was running down my face, this is the second time I’ve seen Jim’s show and would go back a third time! Absolutely amazing! ★★★★★
Laughed till I cried ★★★★★
Davidson does not receive the true credit he deserves… you get what you expect – there are no airs and graces. You receive the simple, filthy comedy which is expected from such a comedy legend. ★★★★★
A comic who has timing down to a fine art. An on-stage, international perfectionist. ★★★★★
Last week Jim Davidson came, he saw, and he conquered a sell-out audience. ★★★★★

Nathan Carter

Start Time - 7:30pm

Nathan Carter is a sensation! In Ireland he outsold One Direction, Pharrell Williams and Michael Buble, and became the first country act to reach number one in the Irish charts in 2013 after Garth Brooks, six years before.

He is an exciting feature on the UK Country scene, and once again tops the Irish charts with his fifth album ‘Where I Wanna Be’ which features his unique blend of Celtic, country and pop! Not bad for the cherubic former head choir boy who sang for Pope John Paul ll in Rome.

Currently on tour in Scotland, he will soon bring his tour bus to Wales and England which culminates in a sold-out London Palladium date on the 28th May.

Nathan was born on 28th May 1990, growing up in Liverpool. His family originate from Newry in County Down.He soon leaned to play the accordion and trips to Ireland to compete in Fleadh Ceoil’s became a regular feature of young Nathan’s life, and by the age of 12 he won All Ireland medals for singing, and the accordion. Nathan soon became a member of the Liverpool Ceili band, playing accordion and piano, and solo performances soon followed in Liverpool and Ireland.

On a trip to Donegal in 2009, Nathan was appearing in concert in Buncrana, where he met with songwriter John Farry. So impressed was Farry that representation soon followed and the rest, as they say, is history.

Nathan’s recordings include WHERE I WANNA BE (no. 1), BEAUTIFUL LIFE (no. 1), ‘STAYIN’ UP ALL NIGHT’ which topped the Irish chart and reached the top 20 in the UK. THE WAY THAT YOU LOVE ME, TIME OF MY LIFE, THE LIVE SHOW, Audio CD & DVD. WAGON WHEEL CD, which saw him sign with Decca Records. The video single to ‘Wagon Wheel’, has generated more than a million hits on YouTube.
